Being a successful road racer is much more than just power numbers. Sure you need to have the engine tuned, but training to be a very successful road racer is very different to normal training. Plus knowing what to do and when to do it during each race will often make the difference between finishing on a podium or finishing nowhere.
We will ensure your engine is built, your tactics are sharp and you are racing smart.
Road racing is one of the most dynamic and tactical forms of cycling. With group dynamics, breakaways, sprint finishes, and varied terrain all playing a part, excelling in road racing requires far more than just fitness. At Hart Performance Coaching, we combine race-proven training methodologies with deep tactical insights to help you thrive in every scenario. I’ve personally won many road races, big and small, and have coached many riders to victory.
From novice cat 4 racers with big dreams, to elite road racers looking to step up to national or international levels, our coaching focuses on building endurance, threshold power, and the high-intensity repeatability needed for attacks and decisive moves. We also work on tactics — when to chase, when to conserve, and how to position yourself for the win.
You’ll receive fully individualised training plans tailored to your race calendar and specific needs, as well as guidance on race-day nutrition, equipment choices, and mental preparation. Whether you’re chasing your first points, the next British Cycling category or a podium finish, we’ll help you develop into a more confident, tactical, and powerful racer.
I am Training Peaks University qualified, Training Peaks Power qualified. I gained 244 points in 4 months when starting my road racing journey after moving from time trialling.
We also offer the opportunity to race for Team HPC and race alongside us regardless of level.
