It all started on the BMX track aged 5. I absolutely loved racing my bike and spent my youth travelling the UK racing. Despite winning a loft full of trophies, my overriding memories from these times are ‘bottling’ the national BMX championships 3 years on the bounce coming 6th each time. These memories make the person ive been told.
Aged 13 I had moved to Road Racing and Time trialling. Borrowing as much of my Dads kit as I could I raced as much as I could. Crit racing on the Eastway circuit and time trialling round the Essex lanes racing GHS finals. A 24min 10 mile TT aged 14 being one of my highlights.
Aged 16, I was offered a place on the GB talent academy. I turned it down. I told my parents I wanted to play football with my school friends instead. After 10 years of racing bikes I was worn out, had lost the love for racing, and choose to try to become a football player instead, breaking my Dads heart in the process.
Fast forward another 15 years and I discovered Triathlon. Over the next 4 years I became a fairly successful Triathlete/Duathlete winning over 30 races, qualifying and racing the 70.3 Ironman World Champs in Las Vegas also winning my age group at the European Duathlon Championships in Horst, Netherlands.
I’m still that same boy deep down. I love my bike. I love racing. I now have a list of Crit, Road Racing and Time Trial victories, a number of ECCA Championships and a National Record to my name.
I have raced BMX, Mountain Bikes, Cyclocross, Road Raced and Time Trialled. Essentially, I have a wide and varied racing background. I know how to successfully prepare and execute many different types of events.
